Driving Impressions
Drivability at its best
The 2007 Civic Si Coupe is available in a FWD version that offers optimum traction on all kinds of terrains. Its 2.0-liter, dual-overhead camshaft (DOHC) K20Z3 engine produces 197 hp and 139 lb-ft. of torque.

This engine is mated to various modern driving technologies such as the ultra-precise Drive-by-Wire throttle system, a 3-rocker i-VTEC variable valve timing, a cold-air intake system, and an equal-length exhaust header. Due to these technologies, the K20Z3 engine boasts of an impressive power and torque generation.

In Drive-by-Wire throttle system, fast-responding electronics replace a traditional throttle cable and induce a greater response, fuel economy, and drivability with minimum adjustment and maintenance.

Helical Limited-Slip Differential offers enhanced steering control and response to the driver during acceleration and cornering. The Coupe is maneuvered by a power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering which offers prompt, precise responses.

The performance-oriented close-ratio 6-speed MT is light-weight and compact, and offers a quick, direct shift action. This efficient transmission features close gear ratios for first through fifth gears and a low-ratio sixth gear for quieter, more fuel-efficient highway cruising.

It rides on McPherson Strut front suspension and Multi-link rear suspension. The suspension system absorbs all road-irregularities and offers a smooth ride.

Stopping power is supplied by power-assisted ventilated front disc brakes and solid rear disc brakes.

The 2007 Civic Si Coupe rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels and P215/45 R17 87V tires. With a turning diameter of 35.6 feet, it is a little difficult to maneuver or park in tight spots.

Safety
Assured safety
The 2007 Civic Si Coupe comes packed with a lot of safety features.

It boasts of an Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure, which improves its impact compatibility with different-sized vehicles. In front-end collisions, it redirects crash energy around the passenger compartment. The Coupe also features side-impact door beams, which help to prevent the intrusion of crash forces in a side impact.

Some other safety features standard on the Civic Si Coupe include active head restraints that move forward and up, helping to reduce and/or prevent neck injury, Daytime Running Lights (DRL), which increase visibility of oncoming traffic, particularly in rainy or foggy weather conditions, dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags, which deploy at one of two rates and thresholds, depending on the severity of impact and seat-belt use, front side airbags with passenger-side occupant position detection system (OPDS) that utilizes sensors in the front passenger's seatback to detect the height and seating position of the occupant, and side curtain airbags to help lessen or prevent head and neck injuries in side collisions.

All five seats are equipped with 3-point seat belts with pre-tensioners. The outboard rear seats feature the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) mounting system for use with compatible child seats.

Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) is also standard on the Si Coupe. ABS helps in maintaining steering control during hard braking while EBD balances braking forces at each wheel, depending upon the car load.
