There's the base 158-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder and a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder paired with two electric motors for a total output of 200 hp and 232 lbs.-torque. Front-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission are standard across the board.
Interior & Technology
The updated Honda Civic offers a sleeker exterior appearance and a more streamlined interior aesthetic. The interior boasts a wide center console with more room for storage, including a large, deep bin for stashing smartphones ahead of the shift lever. There's also a honeycomb-pattern mesh design element that cleverly hides the air vents. And in the trunk, there are 14.8 inches of cubic feet to hold groceries or luggage.
Installed in every new Civic is a seven-inch touchscreen, though an optional nine-inch unit is available. Both screens offer wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and controls for the model's standard four-speaker stereo. Higher trims offer in-dash navigation, a wireless device charging pad, and a 12-speaker Bose stereo system are offered.
Safety
With its stellar safety reputation, it's not surprising the new Civic is loaded with advanced driver-aids. Automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection and adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist come standard. With higher trims like the Touring or Sport Touring featuring front and rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, and low-speed automatic braking.
